One Sunday after church, we headed up to Chief Mountain. It’s not too far out of town, and it’s not difficult. The hike only took us about an hour, and the views were great for so short a hike.
Memorial Day with a View
Lauren’s grandmother might have made a mistake getting me “Colorado Scrambles: Climbs Beyond the Beaten Path” this past Christmas. I’ve been staring at it since then, picking out lots of great climbs for us to do. Pick # 1 – Torreys Peak via Kelso Ridge Lauren and I left Denver Sunday afternoon and made the… Continue reading Memorial Day with a View
Grand Canyon, part 3
I’m getting a little behind here, but what we woke up to at the North Rim was…snow! Surprise! We packed up quickly and headed out of there! The drive between the rims boasts some great sites. The Navajo Bridge has spectacular views over the Colorado River and surrounding cliffs. In the background of the photo… Continue reading Grand Canyon, part 3
Grand Canyon, part 2
We slept alright considering the outrageous winds, but we wanted to get an early start. We headed out towards the east entrance of the canyon, making a couple of stops along the way. We hit Grandview Point: and Lipan Point, which was the worst wind we encountered. I’d say we were out of the car… Continue reading Grand Canyon, part 2
Grand Canyon, part 1
First, if you are interested in doing a trip like this, be prepared to drive. A lot. I knew this was the case, so I signed Joel up for it. He’s a champ at distance driving. When we arrived in the park, after 3+ hours of driving from Phoenix, I am proud to announce that… Continue reading Grand Canyon, part 1
Finally planted!
Our schedule finally worked together with warm weather, and all our plants are planted! We worked hard on Saturday (especially on taming that dumb soaker hose), but we got it done. I’m not sure if we’re able to skip of a day of watering here though…when we got back from camping yesterday, everything was horribly… Continue reading Finally planted!
Joel’s Surprise
A while back, Southwest had a great sale on fares out of Denver. I took advantage of it on a whim…and we are off to the Grand Canyon! I got $30 one-way tickets to Phoenix for us, so we’re having a whirlwind long weekend. Joel didn’t know where we were going until this morning, although… Continue reading Joel’s Surprise
Spring garden update
As it’s raining like crazy right now, I’ll share pictures from earlier today when it was nice. I will also introduce 0ur mortal enemies. Inside Plants: My squash plants are huge! I think I started them too early unfortunately, so I hope they aren’t too root-bound when I put them out (whenever it gets warm… Continue reading Spring garden update
A New Chapter
I am employed! I accepted a job last week and started today, doing accounting part-time at Mile High Youth Corps. While accounting isn’t the love of my life, I figure you can do lots of things as long as you aren’t doing it all the time. I think the job should be fine, and I’m… Continue reading A New Chapter
San Francisco, Part 3
We began our day with breakfast at Dottie’s True Blue Cafe. It was excellent, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco. It wasn’t the cheapest breakfast, and we had to wait in line for a while even though we got there around 8:15, but it was sooo good. In fact, Joel went… Continue reading San Francisco, Part 3
